I’m Writing a Book! (And Why Traditional Productivity Advice Kept Driving Me Crazy)

Book cover, titled Productivity for Women, and labelled coming soon

I have some big news to share: I have a book coming in Winter 2026/2027! The title is:

Productivity For Women: How to Find Time For the Important Things When You Don’t Have a Wife to Do Everything Else.

If that title makes you nod in recognition—it’s because it points directly at the silent flaw in almost all productivity literature. Traditional advice assumes a sterile vacuum where real life never intrudes. Every author (and their ideal reader) is implicitly assumed to have a wife in the background keeping the world running, managing domestic logistics, and absorbing interruptions.

When do those foundational tasks actually get done? Nobody seems to know. And when does the person doing those tasks find time for their own projects and ambitions? Again, nobody seems to know.

The Spark Behind the Book

Years ago, I was reading productivity book after productivity book, growing increasingly frustrated. None of the advice matched my life. I didn’t have a cleared deck. I had constant interruptions, female-specific social expectations, and I was managing a chronic illness. Setting aside clean, unbroken three-hour blocks of time was simply not on the table.

At one point, out of sheer annoyance, I announced that I wanted to write a book—and I blurted out the exact title you see above.

I didn’t start writing right away. But I kept reading, and the frustration kept building. Finally, after listening to me rant about yet another book that ignored real-world operating conditions, my husband offered some advice: If you’ve read this many books and still haven’t found the one you need, maybe it’s time to write it yourself.

Building the Model

This book is the result of two decades of bringing my Computer Science brain to bear on the messy reality of women’s productivity.

Instead of relying on rigid rules or unrealistic life hacks, I approached the problem like constructing a machine learning model. I gathered data from my own life and from other women. I tested strategies, updated my assumptions, and refined the framework. When I observed women successfully making space for their own ambitions, those real-world insights fed back into the model.

Over the years, I’ve used these exact principles to build a career, pursue hobbies, and learn complex new skills—and eventually, to protect the time required to write this blog and draft this manuscript.

What to Expect

While this blog is a space for exploring individual topics in depth, the book is a single, integrated roadmap. It gives you a practical framework for understanding why our plates are so full, how to stop “everything else” from swallowing your day, and how to navigate the pushback when you decide to prioritize your own goals anyway.

Thank you for being here and reading along—I can’t wait to share this with you!.
